  7. Team and competed at the Olympic Games 
  8. in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. She finished in 
  9. eighth place in the 500 meters. But that was
  10. only the beginning.

  12. Bonnie went on to compete in the 1988 
  13. Olympics, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. 
  14. There, she won her first gold medal and set
  15. a world speed record of 39.10 seconds in
  16. the 500 meters. She also came away with
  17. a bronze medal in the 1,000 meters.
